THE STABLES
The terrible state of the western outbuilding is clear from both the inside and the outside of Purnon’s stables.
The stables are a reminder of the importance of hunting here at Purnon throughout the centuries.
The Scevolles forest in front of the estate provided a magnificent environment to pursue the noble family’s passion for hunting.
The splendid loose boxes and stalls probably date from the era of the Marquis Daniel de Rochequairie at the end of the 19th century. He was a passionate and skilled hunter. In the forest stag, wild boar and deer were all hunted on horseback.
