THE ROYAL BUSTS
You have entered the antechamber – a room that connects the entrance to the château with the Grand Salon.
This room houses the originals of two royal busts.
The bust of King Louis XV was found broken into five pieces in the château attic. It has been carefully reassembled.
Only the head of King Henri IV was found. It had been abandoned in a cellar. The rest of the bust has been recreated based on other statues of King Henri IV from this era.
The two busts originally sat on the chateau roof.
Today, masterful reproductions have been placed on the château roof – King Henri IV faces north and King Louis XV faces south.
