Poitiers is the closest airport and train station, a 40 minute drive from Château de Purnon.

If traveling from Paris we recommend catching the TGV fast train to Poitiers from Gare Montparnasse. Typically the train takes around 1 hour 22 minutes (depending on the number of stops).

You can hire a car at Poitiers. There are hire car pick ups at the airport and within a short walk from the train station. Note they have limited opening hours on weekends.

If driving from Paris / CDG Airport to Château de Purnon expect it to take around 3.5 – 4 hours. Don’t forget a credit card for passing through the tollways!

Booking your train travel

Your trains can be booked via SNCF, the french national rail service. We suggest downloading their app so you can easily manage your train tickets. Book your trains in advance directly via SNCF rather than other third party platforms. Give yourself plenty of time when using the Metro and RER in Paris to arrive at Gare Montparnesse. With luggage it can take longer than expected.
